name plate

This is a hightmap-based nameplate. The background is made using Gimp's 'solid noise' filter. This is dissolved to black on the edges (to cause the shaving effect) and the text is overlaid in white so that it is above everything else. This one i experimentally painted with semi-gloss black spray paint. Cut with a 1/4" ballnose router bit to a depth of .25".
