So, it looks like you were taking everything apart to rebuild it and make it fresh? What do you think about these cars so far? Would you recommend them instead of a NEV?

Well the cars had been sitting in a parking lot for more than 20 years, so they were completely filthy (grime EVERYWHERE, it was amazing) and we had serious doubts about the state of the lubricants and rubber parts. None of them even rolled well when we bought them. The brake drums had all rusted so much they dragged on the shoes. I have never driven an NEV. However, the idea of driving a vehicle with a 25mph governor scares me. So few people drive 25mph anywhere... And, at least where I live, the nearest grocery store is across Aurora. and if I want a DECENT grocery store, I have to TAKE aurora, at least for a few blocks. But then once you can use aurora, pretty much everything in 'classic seattle' is available. So, for me at least, I definitely see a citi/comutacar as superior to an NEV. For someone in a different area or with a different commute (my work commute also pretty much demands the use of aurora) an NEV would probably work fine. Of course, all of this is speculation at this point because the car has only gone 25mph! But! We should have new controllers and batteries next week sometime, so then the throttle can open up. Hopefully we can get plates at around the same time!

So good! One of my most challenging (to my limited cognition) pipe dreams is to fix a similar set up to, say, the rear of a Subaru JUSTY (1700 lb -pre fiberglass!- 4wd hatchback via original equipment vaccum button on shift knob). A large hurdle would be the fabrication of a front wheel drive axle 'disconnect' to allow for the rear drive electric motor to do its thing independently (if one desired keeping the 3 cylinder gasoline combustion intact.
