I have been playing with depth-mapped patters on the router recently. The one on the right came from a version of the prior photo. The one on the left is from a greyscale version of something generated with almost the default settings for the gimp diffraction pattern 'filter'. Both of these were cut with a .162" ballnose router bit in MDF.
